This could have been a great book. As it is, I agree with the review that states "the more you read the worse it gets". So disappointing. It feels so rushed. Almost like the author had a great idea at the beginning and just stopped caring and just wanted to finish it already. 2 stars since I was able to get through the whole thing, even if it was difficult.Product details

This was my first book by Sapphire Knight and I enjoyed it. We get instalove, hot alpha gangsters and a surprise little twist at the end.
Thaddaeus...just the name only is sexy, hell everything about him was. He had swoon worthy gestures towards Grace.
Grace is strong and not easily intimidated even by The Joker.
The ending did feel a little rushed and I would have like an epilogue.
This was a quick and sweet read with a little mysterious drama on the side.

The story caught my interest at the beginning. I love a story about a dangerous man in hot pursuit of an ordinary woman. I don't insta-love stories, but I have to be convinced that the hero sees something in the heroine that warrants that feeling.I didn't really feel the connection on this one; the heroine is a bit of an idiot. There is a difference between naivete and stupidity. Willful stupidity. The heroine is constantly saying things like, "I know he murders people, but he buys me thoughtful gifts, so he must be a nice guy underneath it all." No, no he is not. We get to hear his inner dialogue and conversations with his goons, and he isn't nice, so it is hard to like him as a reader.
This started out pretty good. I liked how the hero courted the heroine based off his Grandfather's teachings. Thaddeus is a gangster who goes after what he wants and he wants Grace.
I like that he is this big tough guy who everyone is scared of. This is one of my favorite types of H's but they still need to treat their heroines good, which he did. But there were times his actions or words didn't back up what a scary H would say or do. He lost a bit of his alphaness in certain scenes.
I loved the way Grace pretty much dismisses him in the beginning. She didn't believe he was as scary as her friend said. That is what really brought her to Thaddeus's attention but then I felt she didn't always keep that up either. Some parts she was stuttering and afraid, other parts she got angry and yelled. I would have preferred for her to stay strong.
By the end of the book, I ended up being more intrigued by Maximillian. He's another scary Alpha but the way he didn't bow down to Thaddeus is what made the H seem too weak at times. But again, that could mean for a potentially great read if Max gets his own book. If he stays scary.

I’ve got to admit that for a bit I wasn’t sure if I would finish Gangster. I wasn’t connecting with the book at first, but I had a feeling if I just continued on that things would get more interesting and I am so glad that I did because I enjoyed this one. I didn’t love it but I liked it overall.
Now with the name Gangster you think mafia right? Well while there is some mafia connection this is not a mafia book. It is about a gang, not your let’s tag up walls with symbols or wear certain colors to show who your crew is, no this gang is somewhere in between the mafia and a street gang. They keep the street gangs in line and no one messes with the Joker and no this is not about Batman either.
Thaddeus aka Joker is someone people fear, they do not want to get on his bad side nor do they want his attention. Grace sasses off to him when she first meets him and that is what draws his attention to her and he begins his plan to have her as his own. He could be extremely sweet and generous one minute and blood thirsty and ruthless the next. I wanted to love Grace but I just couldn’t fully connect with her character. There are some things that happen or are said in the book that had me wanting to slap Joker and his crew with a baseball bat, as well as Grace and her friend.
Overall I enjoyed Gangster I just wish I would have loved it but I do recommend this one still because once I did get into the story I did enjoy it.
I really enjoyed this book and the ending just let me down. I would've liked to known if they had kids since her getting pregnant was brought up with her birth control issues. I would've also liked to have known if Max just dropped his idea of having her. To have a part with his thoughts but not go back too it was a cliff hanger. This book would've been great if it were a series so that the reader can know what happens after, but as a stand alone it left me wanting more. Its like as soon as it really got good it just bombed. Although the twist if who was behind the hit was brilliant there was so much more I would've liked to know. Like did Grace ever conform to her new lifestyle, how was the wedding? Did any of his crew find love? But again the story was good and interesting, just didn't care for being built up to have it just end with so many unanswered questions.
What can I say she has done it again! Gangster drew me in in the first chapter and kept my attention all threw out the book! Call me crazy but I love me some alpha male and T.M is all of that and more! The courting 10 day period was something that drew me because it showed how much he was willing to do for Gracie being he had only met her once!
